Yes – we love food! Our owner, a proud and passionate Italian, holds the highest standards for pizza. That’s why Surfing Wombats decided to bring a slice of real authentic Italian pizza to Sri Lanka.

Our Pizza Artistry

Step inside and witness the culinary magic unfold! Our newly built, wood-fired pizza oven takes center stage in our open kitchen plan, allowing you to watch our master pizza chef create perfection. Every morning, our pizzas are crafted from scratch, using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.

Convenient Location

Surfing Wombats is ideally situated in Midigama, just a short 5-minute drive from both Weligama and Ahangama. This central location makes it easy for you to enjoy our authentic Italian pizza without going far.

Surfing Wombats Mirissa

Since January 2020, we’ve also opened Surfing Wombats Mirissa, right in front of the beach. Here, you can savor special cocktails and relish the best Italian pizza while enjoying the stunning beachfront view.

Pizza

The quality of authentic Italian pizza relies upon the passion of the chef. We take pride in carefully sourced ingredients and dough hand kneaded to deliver a perfect wood-fire finish on every pizza. In our menu we have classical Marianara, Buffalina, Vegana and Focaccia pizzas and we also offer nightly specials! Vegan and vegetarian options are always available. I you have tried pizza Weligama or pizza Ahangama you will soon discover that our Italian pizza restaurant is the best in the area. Deliveries are also always an option if you want Italian pizza in Weligama or Ahangama (or don’t want to leave your house/hostel/beach in Midigama). Who would have thought you could find such amazing pizza in Midigama? Unfortunately reading does not give you the taste, so better come and try it yourself.

Beat the heat with our refreshing, ice-cold juices and smoothies. Immune system booster, detox juice, power smoothie to recharge after surfing... we can definitely help you! We also offer coffee from our Italian coffee maker that will satisfy your cappuccino, café latte, espresso, americano or macchiato cravings! The milk can of course be replaced with coconut milk for our vegan and lactose intolerant friends.

We know we are famous for our Napolitan style pizza, but during the years we got more curious and we started to learn also about homemade pasta!

In our menu you will find the traditional tagliatelle , gnocchi and even some special pasta called “pici” ( originally from Tuscany ) which surprisingly it’s vegan. All of them are homemade every day from our passionate stuff to guarantee the freshness and also to keep our guys doing some good arms workouts 😜.

A part the dishes containing wheat we also create some nice appetizers for vegans or gluten intolerant, and of course the classic healthy and fresh Mediterranean salads. All is made with fresh and organic vegetables, and of course in every dish we will never miss the most important ingredient of Italian cuisine : extra virgin olive oil.

Do you feel is something missing ?! Oh no, you can’t finish your dinner without trying one of our desserts! We have traditional desserts like affogato al caffe, pannacotta , but also a very tasty chocolate brownie. The most famous one is our Nutella calzone , made in our woodfire oven and served hot with vanilla icecream on the side. What else do you need?!

If you want breakfast Midigama, Surfing Wombats restaurant is a great option. Not only can you have a filling and healthy breakfast, you will also meet the cool people staying at our hostel hanging out in the restaurant playing games, eating or chatting between surf sessions or other activities. Breakfast and lunch options include refreshing smoothie bowls (It’s like eating ice cream for breakfast. Yum!), Italian frittata, banana porridge and paninis! Our paninis are made fresh every morning in the wood fired oven, and are perfect for enjoying in the restaurant or as lunch take away. This way you can enjoy your lunch in a hammock at the beach, in the tuk-tuk on your way to your next adventure or in bed if you want. We believe in the saying that the best way to start your day is with an awesome, filling breakfast!
